is the life for me. well, only in my dreams. i mostly just dream of the pretty parts of living and working a farm. farm life is no piece of cake. there is never a moment of down time. there is always something to do or fix. we recently took a tour of penn farm and i came away with some great, texture ridden photos and an idea of how tough life was living on a farm in the mid 1800′s.
the great outdoors….
camping is proving to be a fabulous thing for our family. it brings such freedom to my boys. they can run and roam and climb and wield sticks. it is great fun for all of us. we spent our new year’s eve camping at a local state park. we brought a strand of lights to wrap around a near by tree, a bottle of prosecco and of course a can of black eyed peas. it was perfect.
all the pretty colors….
shots from my last trip to new mexico. clear blue skies and autumn color, old adobes, distant hills and cacti.
5 minutes to jam
there is a drum set at my parents’ house that my boys LOVE. when we are there for a visit, they pester us daily to play it. so, when the time is right, we all gather round (or hide outside) and listen to them jam. 5 minutes each is about all we can handle. but, boy, oh boy do they love their 5 minute jams! this was fin’s first jam session. rock on baby!
home away from home
i am sharing a few snip-its of our recent camping trip. camping is our family’s escape from reality. exploring, tree climbing, hot dog roasting is what we do best together. it brings us together in a way that nothing else does. it is our recharge on life. happy new year….may it bring peace, love and happiness!

the leatherman…
thanksgiving was in new mexico this year. i love my time in my home state. while there my mom and i ventured into roswell and had lunch and some much needed mom/daughter time. on our way to get coffee, i spied the leatherman. i had seen him countless times before on past trips. in fact i said to josh, the next time i was in town i was going to pay him a visit and ask for a photograph. i had completely forgotten about him until we drove by and i saw him standing and watching the traffic go by. my mom cruised around the block and parked and waiting while i snapped these:
i loved his dog, he was the first to greet me as i walked up. i was so glad to have finally gotten this man’s (and his pooch’s) photograph. i learned so much about him and where he grew up. his work was beautiful….wish i would have thought to snap some of it before leaving. maybe the next time i am visiting!
my three sons….
well, ok…so you only see 2.75 of them. this image speaks volumes about my boys at this stage in their lives. jackson in the foreground, having no desire to be photographed. Owen in his pretend -play world and then there is Finley, who eagerly awaits his big brother’s next move. watching them grow up is an amazing experience and i am feeling extra blessed this thanksgiving. i hope that your holiday is full of family and friends and delicious home cooked meals that make you long for next year all over again! xox
